Day three was filled with activities in the water. It started with a short trip to Lake Arenal, which is at the base of Arenal Volcano. The day was a little overcast and 'he' (the volcano) was a little tired so as the locals say, 'He didn't want to get out from under his blanket.' Even though it was a little cloudy we still seemed to get a little tan!
After our morning on the lake we made our way to La Fortuna waterfall, literally meaning - the fortunate.

La Fortuna is set in the remote jungle woods. It took a little more then 10 minutes to descend to the spectacular site. The path consisted of a winding 500 step natural staircase, with a chain railing... but after arriving at the waterfall it is clear how La Fortuna got its name. Literally as we are standing at it's base everything is put into perspective - I AM FORTUNATE. Never in my life have I seen a waterfall this large, it flows from approximately 200 feet in the air and the sound it unimaginable. The roaring of the falling water leaves no choice but to reflect on such a wonderful experience.
Let's face it we had a lovely upper body workout in the morning, kayaking, and a lovely lower body workout, climbing all those stairs, -- so, let me tell you, my thighs were burning and the next stop was much needed!!
Our evening was spent at Baldi Hot Springs - what I would do to be back there again! Baldi is a beautiful resort made up of 16 natural hot and cool springs, but boy did it exceed my expectations. I imagined the hot springs to be rustic, rough and wild... and that couldn't be farther from the truth.
